P.O.S.H. is the acronym for Port Out Starboard Home, and evokes the exotic early days of travel and the charm of the unique collection of items curated by founder Karl Sorensen.
Conceived around the ’20s and ’30s “Age of Travel” era, the P.O.S.H. retail store features last-of-its-kind items like hotel and cruise ship silver, as well as unique, forgotten, or discontinued items like restaurant china, mugs and glassware.
To represent the store, we presented several directions, including a bellhop character. My sketch was brought to life by talented Chicago illustrator Steve Musgrave. Thus, POSHY was born. Since then, a set of alternates were created by Steven for specialty uses, and I’ve illustrated many specialty versions for website and promo postcard uses.
