Still Using Our Brains

Amalga Exhibit

Students enrolled in the Contemporary Exhibition Practices course at Lake Forest College identified and contacted artists, curated an exhibit concept, worked with designers, designed the exhibit space, hung the show, and hosted an opening night reception. As part of their learning experience, one group of students came in to my office to review first-round promotional postcard concepts and set the show’s visual direction, and second group came in to discuss concepts presented for the exhibit program and poster. After researching the four Chicago artists, I developed a wordmark using the students’ exhibit title and color palette and incorporated approved images from the artists. The print collateral included a postcard to announce the event; a poster to hang around campus and businesses; and an exhibit brochure available to all visitors.
